DUNBLANE

This large, established garden benefited from an attractive boundary wall and mature trees but lacked structure, seating and ease of use. The clients wanted an elegant garden with easier to mow lawns and a turning circle in the driveway.

Reshaping the driveway involved moving tons of earth and building curved retaining walls. The new walls have been designed in contemporary shapes but now align more closely with the original contours of the site.

The walls and paving are made from natural materials that remain sensitive to the traditional house and boundary walls. Stones and old kerbs found on site were re-used in the walls and steps. Several new paths, wall seats and terraces have been installed to make the garden a much more inviting place to be.

The mature trees and specimen shrubs were retained and have been supplemented with recently planted woodland perennials.
